Disney Wish: What you need to know before setting sail

disney wishes cruise ship

The Disney Cruise Line held a grand reveal Thursday morning to lay out more details on the Disney Wish, the company’s fifth cruise ship, which will set out from Port Canaveral for the Bahamas starting June 9, 2022. Just like many modern cruise ships, Disney Wish has a high proportion of Verandah and Oceanview staterooms. With that said, I doubt the Disney Wish will go down as my favorite ship or the one we’ll sail most in the long-term once that “new ship smell” wears off. For one thing, it’s a lot more expensive than comparable itineraries on the other ships and I’m not sure it’s worth the premium pricing–especially on repeat sailings. For another, I really like the layout, style, design of the other ships (save for the specialty dining and staterooms).

Disney Wish Deck-by-Deck

After checking into the kids club from the Grand Hall on Deck 3, children can zip down a magical slide that takes them straight into the space on Deck 2. The list of places to eat aboard Disney Wish is actually even longer than the three previously mentioned rotational dining restaurants. Disney says this restaurant features the best of the golden age of Hollywood, with the style of the furniture inspired by what was actually in Walt's office.

A reimagined upper deck

If you don’t mind shelling out just a bit of cash, you can add on wines, beer, sodas, specialty coffees, juices, and the like. The drinkware itself even adds to the theme of this lounge, which is inspired by Cinderella’s rendition of “Sing Sweet Nightingale” from the 1950 Disney classic movie. Like Marceline Market, most of the items here are included with the cost of your cruise. Our reviewers felts that dining at 1923 was like dining in a Disney museum (and that’s not a bad thing).

They felt it was much better than a traditional character meal, even for jaded adults. Compared to, say, a Cinderella’s Royal Table (Magic Kingdom) or Restaurant Akershus (EPCOT), the quality of the character entertainment and interactions is in a class by itself. The characters sing and lead interactive activities, but also take breaks from the show to stop by and visit your table. Even Olaf wheels in on a serving cart to delight diners (somewhat reminiscent of the table visits Remy made at EPCOT’s Chefs de France many years ago). Here’s a video overview of dining onboard the ship; below, we’ll investigate each restaurant more completely. Hello, I'm Alison a Disney Cruise and Travel Blogger with over 40 cruises and more than 30 years of Disney travel experience.

Disney Wish Kids Clubs and Teen Clubs

Thanks to a theatre-in-the-round setup, there’s a good view from pretty much anywhere in the dining room. Our reviewers were seated outside of the central ring of tables, but still had a good view (with the exception of an occasional person walking between the tables and the stage). Our reviewers were blown away by their experience here and ranked it as the top must-see, must-do, do-not-miss-it offering onboard. The menu offered a nice mix that’s sure to please both those who are more adventurous eaters and those who would rather stick to things they know and love. You may also have a chance to dine at one of these restaurants for breakfast or lunch at no additional cost, but note that the menu will vary and you won’t experience any of the “show” aspects noted in the descriptions below.

Almost everything here is included with the cost of your cruise, including sodas, juices, milk, tea, and traditional coffee. If you want one of the specialty coffees or other premium drinks prepared at the restaurant’s “cafe,” you’ll need to pay separately for those. Inspired by Beauty and the Beast‘s Cogsworth, Palo Steakhouse is a bit different from the Palo restaurant that is already well-known onboard the four prior Disney cruise ships.

The Senses Spa on the Disney Wish offers a variety of treatments and services designed to help guests relax and rejuvenate during their Disney Cruise vacation. Even if you don’t make it to the restaurants, try and take some time to look at the fabulous theming in this area. The restaurant is divided up into 2 identical sides, and these spaces are divided up into smaller “rooms’ with screens on the walls. Highly sought after, for good reason, as they offer a balcony where you can enjoy your own private outside space. But most definitely she is stunningly beautiful, brilliantly themed, packed with things to do, and perhaps the most adult-pleasing Disney Cruise ship at sea.

Rotational Dining Restaurants on the Disney Wish

There are different spaces on all of the Disney Cruise Ships for children of all ages. As you would expect, the kid’s clubs on the ship are an excellent facility for all ages from 6 months to age 17. If you are on a 4-night sailing you will have a different Pirate Night menu in the rotational restaurant that you are dining in that evening.

Join some of your favourite Disney Characters on a multidimensional search to find fragments of a shattered Wishing Star, navigating across Disney storybook worlds throughout your cruise. Using your mobile device as an “enchanted spyglass”, embark on quests that let you interact with the ship in new and exciting ways. Step into the magical worlds of some of your favourite Disney stories and feast upon delectable, gourmet specialities at 3 all-new, upscale family restaurants. Combining inventive design, cutting-edge technology and classic storytelling, the Disney Wish seamlessly brings Disney magic to life in new and unexpected ways, while creating the next generation in family entertainment.

Disney Wish has a full roster of new Broadway-style shows, along with several other new entertainment offerings. I tried out Palo while on Disney Wish, and it was over-the-top amazing when it came to the service, the views and, of course, the food itself. The last of Disney Wish's new rotational restaurants is 1923, which is named after the year the Walt Disney Company was founded.

Infants as young as six months old — up through toddlers just shy of their third birthday — are cared for in this secure nursery onboard. Specially-trained counselors keep everyone fed, changed, happy, entertained, and ready for visits by Disney friends. The spot for tweens aged 11-14, Edge is a New York City inspired loft-style hangout. Enjoy visits from the Disney Princesses while making royal crafts at Rapunzel’s art studio, acting out stories in Belle’s Library, and crating a bit of ice magic at Anna & Elsa’s Sommerhus.

Enjoy pipe slides, ship’s wheels, activities and games, and even an occasional visit from Captains Mickey and Minnie. The menu is surprisingly complete, but not necessarily the most exciting. We’ve never had a bad meal from room service onboard Disney Cruise Line, but none of them have been particularly spectacular, either.

Disney is all about the young and the young at heart, and that sentiment holds true for the entirety of the Disney Cruse Line fleet. From on-deck dance parties to dining with “Frozen” characters Elsa, Anna, and Olaf, and much more in between, passengers are invited to be a part of the all-ages fun on the Disney Wish. Concierge Staterooms - Disney storytelling soars to new heights inside these rooms that feature a premium level of service. Stay in a Tangled-inspired cabin, or rest in one of 7 special The Little Mermaid-themed spaces featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that look out to sea. Adults can dine, relax and immerse themselves in magical settings designed just for them on the Disney Wish - from upscale restaurants and sophisticated lounges to an expansive pool area.

Sip a cocktail in an elegant setting, replete with antique mirrors and floating rose petals. This elegant, adult-exclusive lounge is reminiscent of the enchanted castle from Beauty and the Beast, and is the perfect prelude or postscript to a sophisticated meal at Enchanté or Palo Steakhouse. Fine Wines, handcrafted cocktails, and a shimmering chandelier set the scene at this chill piano bar aboard the Disney Wish. Your piano player might even know a few obscure Disney parks tunes if you ask politely enough. Dinner at these three restaurants is included in the cost of your cruise. In many of the big categories, the Disney Wish is exactly like the other Disney Cruise ships.

When the Diamond Princess cruise set sail from Yokohama, Japan on Jan. 20, 2020, with 2,666 passengers and 1,045 crew members, there were still a lot of unknowns about COVID-19. In 40 minutes, The Last Cruise showcases videos taken by both passengers and the crew for a first-hand account of what it was like to be on the ship as concerns around COVID-19 became more serious. One of the newest shows on this list of top cruise ship shows is BBC Three’s horror-comedy series Wreck.

As Jamie learns the ins and outs of living and working on a ship, he befriends other crew members in order to help with his investigation into the disappearance of his sister and how a recent attack on a crew member could be connected to it. This next show takes a much darker turn than those that came before – if you couldn’t tell right away from the title Cruise Ship Killers. If you’ve got an interest in true crime, you’re definitely going to want to add this show to your list.

With superb behind-the-scenes footage, Mighty Cruise Ships features such ships as the Celebrity Solstice, Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas, and many more. Near the end of the documentary, we see the American passengers getting on a plane to the U.S. near the end of February, after some expressed concerns about possibly catching COVID-19 on the aircraft if they disembark the ship. In the middle of the plane, with passengers from the Diamond Princess on board, you see a plastic curtain enclosure.

ITV’s The Cruise takes us from the yacht setting of the previous shows to an actual cruise ship, though this series does primarily follow the ship’s crew as well. One difference is that yachts are privately owned and directly chartered while cruise ships are owned by corporations. "I spent months collecting hundreds of hours of cell phone footage taken by the passengers and crew aboard the Diamond Princess," Olson tells PEOPLE.

The crew was also scared to report that they were sick or even to complain about the conditions. Well, she’s back for more sea-worthy adventures on the Channel 5 travel series, Cruising with Jane McDonald, where she films a travelogue showcasing the very best aspects of the ship, both in terms of service and aesthetics. On a cruise ship, you have access to amenities like a gym, pool, spa, arcade room, restaurants, what have you. Renting a yacht, though, provides a more personal and luxurious experience.

The tragic death of a bride on her honeymoon cruise shatters the joyous atmosphere of the ship. When investigators learn that there were no strong winds at the time, they launch a murder investigation to find out who is responsible for what happened. In this episode of “Cruise Ship Killers”, we get an in-depth look at the case and explore all possibilities to uncover the truth behind this tragedy. A total of 712 people contracted COVID-19 on the Diamond Princess cruise ship and 14 died. Dede, a dishwasher who was particularly excited about being able to work on a cruise ship, highlights that there was no separation between crew members that were infected and those who weren't.

NBC’s The Voyager with Josh Garcia also follows the travelogue format through the eyes of traveler and host, Josh Garcia.

One of my favorite family vacations to this day will always be the 3-day cruise we took from Singapore to Malaysia on the SuperStar Virgo. It wasn't until March 1 that all passengers and crew members were able to disembark the ship. There are three episodes, with the first originally airing in October 2020. The series shows passengers enjoying all that the massive oasis-class ship has on offer and how the crew keeps it all running smoothly.

The documentary gives you an insider’s view of how the ship works from the bottom up – how it’s powered, the innumerable jobs the staff all have to do simultaneously, and the guests’ experience day in and day out. Cruise ship documentaries are a great way to get an insider’s peek into life on these luxury vessels. You can now travel the globe from the comfort of home, experiencing the ultimate travel lifestyle. Enjoy the adventure - it's all part of the Storylines luxury global lifestyle. Our living fees start from just $2,152 per person per month - lower than living costs in most major cities worldwide.

With visual precision and remarkable intimacy, Hannah Olson's documentary "The Last Cruise" recalls the harrowing 40-day quarantine aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship at the outset of the pandemic. On January 20, 2020—the same day when the World Health Organization first reported cases of COVID-19 appearing outside of Wuhan, China—the cruiseliner set sail on a prototypical journey on the high seas. The trip took its multinational manifest of passengers and crew from Japan to Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and back to Japan’s Port of Yokohama. Using their smartphones, the subjects recorded their daily adventures, which grew more precarious by the day and serve as a microcosm for the year-plus crisis the rest of the world would soon experience.

One of the couples featured in the documentary reveals that's where people who were COVID-19 positive were sitting throughout the journey. The crew decks have no windows so it was incredibly isolating for cruise employees in particular. While everyone was stuck on the ship, the crew was below deck, not even knowing what time of day it was unless they were looking at a clock.

Carnival Cruise WiFi: Ultimate Guide To Carnival WiFi Plans

carnival cruise internet package

We recently put Carnival’s Internet access through the paces to give you all the details on what we experienced with the service. She has worked in the cruise industry since 2015 and has taken over 30 cruises. Now, she helps over 1 million people per month to plan their perfect cruise holidays. This is handy if you have some important things to do on your laptop in your cabin, but you want to keep the WiFi with you on your smartphone as you spend the day exploring the ship. You have until midnight Eastern Time on the day before your cruise departs to make your purchase. However, anecdotal evidence from lots of Facebook groups tells me that they will refund you.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises Wi-Fi and Internet

You can use your Carnival WiFi package with one device at a time, but you are able to move it between devices if you want to. It’s not locked to a single device, but you won’t be able to use it on more than one at once. You can use the service without any limitation on the Premium Plan. If you try to send large images or video clips on the Social and Value plans, it will be very slow or not send at all. Yes, Apple’s iMessage system works with the FREE Wi-Fi connection with some limitations.

How much does Internet Access on Carnival Cruise Ships cost?

Let’s dive into the various WiFi packages Carnival offers, ensuring you stay connected without breaking the bank. Carnival Cruise Lines offers three wifi package options on board. The price varies depending on when whether you pre-book it and how much internet access you need. In February 2018, Carnival Corporation partnered with SES Networks to provide the industry's biggest bandwidth to a mobile shipboard platform (first introduced on Regal Princess). The new technology broke all previous myths about connectivity limitations at sea.

How do I purchase Carnival Cruise WiFi?

MSC offers five tiers of connectivity, with connections that work onboard or on the line's private Bahamian island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. The Browse plan provides access to email, websites, all social networks and chat apps but without the ability to watch video or use video chats. Holland America has three wireless internet packages on offer. The lowest level of connectivity, Surf, is not available for purchase. Users have access to email, news apps and messaging apps, minus their audio and video features.

A Game-Changer at Sea

However, this means that you can only use one device at a time. Starlink is Elon Musk’s project to enable fast Internet access anywhere in the world. It uses satellite technology at a much lower cost than was previously possible and at much higher speeds. Once you leave your local departure port, you will soon be out of reach of local mobile cell towers. So unless you have roaming switched off in your phone’s settings, you will be automatically connected to the Ship’s own mobile network. By incorporating these tips, you can stay connected without breaking the bank.

The pre-purchase window for certain products and activities closes between one and three days prior to the sail date. TikTok is considered a social app, and due to the short nature of videos, you can enjoy this app on the basic Social WiFi package.

Carnival Cruise Line Has Good News for Guests That Use WiFi

While the digital world offers comfort, the real magic of a cruise lies in the sunsets, the onboard activities, the new friendships, and the sheer joy of being at sea. For those looking to share their cruise memories with friends and family, the Social WiFi Plan is a perfect fit. This plan allows you to access popular social media platforms and chat apps. Think of it as catching up with a close friend over a cup of coffee, but digitally.

So, you know how staying connected is pretty essential these days, right? It’s like having your own little hotspot in the middle of the ocean! They’ve got various plans to fit what you need, whether you’re just itching to update your socials or need full-on streaming capabilities.

Once connected, a window will pop up asking for your folio number and date of birth. It’s a good idea to tell your friends and family that you’re doing this. You can grab the app from the Google Play Store or iTunes. Getting it before you board to dodge hefty fees from your cell phone provider is a good idea. From all these experiences, I’ve compiled a list of ways to access free WiFi without purchasing it.

Many cruise lines are taking advantage of this technology to upgrade their onboard Internet. Carnival is currently has now rolled out Starlink Internet across its entire fleet. This provides a much better onboard Internet experience than you might have had in the past. The other thing to consider is that Cruise ship Internet can be slow, sometimes painfully slow! The Premium package is available before boarding at a price of $21.25 per person per day. The price jumps to $25 if you wait until you get on board.

Wondering if the Wi-Fi on a Carnival Cruise can keep up with your digital needs? Let’s explore what you can expect when it comes to internet speed and reliability on the ship. Before May 2022, Wi-Fi packages started at a mere $6.80 per day. Now, the starting rate has nearly doubled to $12.75 per day. Typically, you’ll pay for the entire duration of the cruise, a change from the past when you could buy Wi-Fi for specific days only. Internet aboard all Viking Ocean ships is free, but the line imposes heavy-bandwidth limitations for large uploads/downloads and live streaming.

In order to do so, all you need to do is sign onto your account at Carnival.com and click on the Cruise Manager page. Back then, there was almost always a full-time employee of the satellite company, which provided internet access to assist you with getting online and any billing discrepancies. With a decade of firsthand experience in the cruising industry, I have developed a deep understanding of the intricacies and wonders that these majestic vessels hold.

Such interruptions could be weather (“rain fade”), overcrowded networks and line-of-sight blockage. These tips will help you enjoy a seamless and cost-effective internet experience during your Carnival cruise. You’ll receive a prompt asking if you want to switch devices. Selecting “confirm,” the new device will be connected to the WiFi.

On our trip we tested FaceTime calls from an iPhone with the Premium plan. We were able to talk, but there were some times where the image was blurry or froze for a few seconds. If you had to use the connection every day to surf, it would be slow by modern standards. It definitely took some time to load images onto posts for Cruzely.com when we live-blogged the cruise. Using the wi-fi here and there to check the news or email, however, was just fine. There were times when the connection seemed faster than others, but you wouldn’t confuse the speed with broadband you have at home or the office.

With these tips in mind, you can make the most of your Carnival Cruise adventure while staying connected and ensuring a safe and secure online experience. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your vacation, knowing that you have the knowledge and tools to get internet on Carnival Cruise with ease. Before you embark on your Carnival Cruise adventure, it’s essential to prepare your devices for internet access. Taking a few simple steps will help ensure a seamless and enjoyable online experience while on board.

Fire destroys restaurant set to open on Chicago's North Side CBS Chicago

sushi cruise in edgewater

Every Virgin Voyages ship has the same 20 restaurants and eateries on board with menus designed by Michelin-starred chefs, according to the cruise line's website. The dish was smoked pork marinated in achiote and topped with a sour orange habanero pico de gallo. It came with a side of corn tortillas for a build-your-own taco experience. For dinner one night, I ordered the Cochinita Pibil, a traditional Mayan dish that originated in the Yucatán Peninsula in 400 AD, as Business Insider previously reported.

I ate my way through a luxury cruise ship. There are 5 dishes I'm still thinking about months later.

Last summer, I sailed the Mediterranean Sea for seven days on a luxury Virgin Voyages cruise ship. Chicago food truck owner John Nguyen had just needed to pass a health inspection for his new restaurant, Lunchbox, at 1535 W. The pappardelle was lighter and chewier than my previous experiences, which I preferred. And there was just the right amount of sauce not to overpower the flavor of the pasta itself. I didn't feel overstuffed after my meal, as I often do when eating pasta. According to the cruise line, Pink Agave's menu was inspired by Mexico.

View the Menu

I've had this popular dish at various restaurants, but this rendition stood out because it was made with fresh pasta. I hadn't heard of Cochinita Pibil before my cruise, but now, it's one of my favorite Mexican dishes. The pork seemed to melt in my mouth, and the pico de gallo was a refreshing touch to the otherwise hearty entrée. Here are the best dishes I ate during the journey, from tacos and pizza to fresh pasta and doughnuts. While some menus had special dishes for an additional fee, most of the food on board — and everything I ate — was included in the $5,900 ticket price.

The owner said that the destruction is hard to stomach, in particular because John Nguyen spent a lot of time and effort renovating the storefront himself. Those tiles on the wall alone took him a whole month to install. "This was going to be our hub for the food trucks – our home," said John Nguyen, "our prep and our storefront as well." John Nguyen and his wife, Tanya, scraped by when the COVID-19 pandemic hit – and then purchased the Devon Avenue storefront. On one of our well-appointed riverboats, the rhythmic churning of the paddlewheel transports guests back to the bygone age of steamboat travel, where life moved at a more leisurely pace. Cruise from New Orleans all the way up to St. Paul on Viking's 15- or 17-day America's Great River itinerary aboard the 193-stateroom Viking Mississippi, a vessel designed just for this river.

Curl up with a good book in one of our spacious lounges aboard the riverboat. Or relax on the sun deck or private balcony and enjoy the passing landscapes as we make our way along the Mississippi River from Hannibal to Muscatine. During this sailing, you'll overnight in Memphis, so there's time to fully savor barbecue, the blues and Elvis Presley's Graceland. A port call in Paducah, Kentucky, lets you explore the National Quilt Museum and colorful street murals. Viking River Cruises' 22-day Grand Mississippi Voyage, available in 2024 aboard the 386-passenger Viking Mississippi, also embarks in New Orleans and visits 16 ports in nine states as it cruises north to St. Paul, Minnesota. If you're especially passionate about Civil War history, look for American Cruise Lines' special Civil War-themed cruises on limited dates, which allow a deeper dive into the period.

Whether you are looking for a sightseeing adventure on the Mississippi River, taking in the sights, or dining on the river at sunset, Mark Twain Riverboat has something for everyone. Mark Twain shared his unique perspective of life on the Mississippi River throughout his writings and characters. However, there are slight differences depending on the section of the river you’re looking to cruise. It’s best to cruise the Upper Mississippi in the spring, fall and summer, when temperatures are milder.

Enjoy one of our themed Mississippi River cruises, perfect for music aficionados, culinary connoisseurs and history enthusiasts. The two cruise lines sailing America's most legendary river offer itineraries for every interest on ships designed with mature travelers in mind. The Deep South attracts history buffs with its Civil War battlefields and cemeteries and 18th- and 19th-century mansions guarded by regiments of live oaks. Both cruise lines offer a Lower Mississippi river cruise, sailing round-trip from New Orleans, but only one features multiple excursions geared to those with a keen interest in the 19th-century conflict. River cruising gives you the time and space to fully immerse yourself in Mark Twain's story and the Mississippi River, getting to know the inspiration behind his books.

Everything About Buying Discount Cruise Gift Cards via AARP Carnival, Royal Caribbean, & More

carnival cruise discount gift cards

It is best to purchase cards from the cruise lines, travel agents, or authorized retailers. Everyone loves a deal, and occasionally there are some promotions on gift cards. Currently, there are no major sales for this upcoming holiday season. In the past, Carnival has had sales, something to keep an eye on. Associations such as AARP have also had discounts on cards, so review current memberships/ associations for any offerings. Norwegian Cruise Line ended its gift card program in 2021, but you still can send gifts to cruisers in the form of an onboard credit or spa credit.

Where to get Discounted Carnival Gift Cards..??

Holland America offers gift cards in denominations between $5 and $2,000 that are available to buy on its website. You can either purchase a physical card to send enclosed with a personal message or choose a digital version that the recipient can open online with personalized audio and photos. If you apply a Carnival gift card to your Sail & Sign account and then don’t use all of the money by the end of your cruise, you’ll be refunded in the form of a new Carnival gift card.

Cruise gift cards: What you need to know before buying

You can transfer the gift card to another user since there are no names on the cards. While the discount isn’t as big as with AARP or Verizon, it may be an easier option for you if you want to buy your gift cards in-store. However, this very much seems to be the exception, and most people who’ve bought from AARP and discussed their experience on forums and social media report almost instant delivery of e-gift cards. The best discounts you can expect to get on a Carnival Cruise Line gift card are 10%, with some retailers and schemes offering less – typically 5% or 6%.

Annoying Mistakes I've Made on Cruises

Like other gift cards, the cruise cards don’t have anyone’s name attached. So if you want to buy them as a gift for someone, you can do that. Or if you have a cruise coming up and want to use the discount to save money, you can do that too. Here, the group offers all sorts of deals from discounted magazine subscriptions to book deals to sweepstakes entries.

The only difference is instead of paying full price, you get a discount. Combined, these lines represent close to 100 cruise ships offering trips just about anywhere in the world. In other words, no matter if you want to sail the Caribbean or Australia, the Mediterranean or Alaska, you can do it while saving some serious money.

Verizon and Carnival Gift Cards

One advantage of a Disney gift card is you could use it for non-cruise purchases, such as at a Disney park or other Disney business venture. Whether you are going on a cruise or want to help someone pay for their cruise, buying a gift card or certificate towards a cruise line may seem like a great idea. Celebrity Cruises has an online store where you can purchase onboard credit to celebrate someone's birthday, honeymoon, anniversary or other memorable occasion while on their cruise. You can purchase up to 10 certificates per person at a time, and they can only be applied to new reservations on voyages scheduled at least 120 days out from the purchase date of the certificate. Only one certificate can be used per sailing — and there are a few other restrictions.

The “Premium” items like Carnival gift cards had a limit of 25 per month. The non-premium cards had a lower limit of just five gift cards per month. Does anyone know where you can get the Carnival discount gift cards? I have read that AARP and Allstate offered them but I have yet to find anything. I feel like I have been all over the AARP site as well as my Allstate site with no luck. Cruising early December and was hoping to get a couple to help with the drink package and excursions.

Award vs. cash calculator

I've finally paid off all my bills this year after a lifetime of debt. Just using one card for points and paying it off every month. Plan on racking up more free gift cards to add to the $700 savings on the 3 cruises we have booked. Carnival's gift cards are available in over 9,000 retail outlets, including Best Buy, Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, Lowe's, Safeway, Winn-Dixie and Publix. You can also purchase gift cards on board Carnival's ships.

Before you buy the cruise cards, you’ll definitely want to read through all the fine print that’s provided on the AARP website about their use. Each cruise line seems to have different rules regarding usage. So if you were to purchase a cruise costing $2,500, you could buy five of these cards for $2,250, saving yourself $250 off the purchase. I looked, and looked and looked for the $100 Carnival gift card, and could not find one word about it.

Princess Cruises also offers gift cards on its website in denominations between $5 and $2,000. Buyers can personalize the line's eGift Card with photos and audio for the recipient. Princess Classic Gift Cards arrive by mail, with free shipping on cards over $100. If you’re looking on social media and forums for more advice on buying Carnival gift cards at discount, you might see Allstate Rewards recommended. Just a quick note to let you know that this program was retired in October 2023. With Kroger, your purchases earn you fuel points, which you can redeem on gas.

It costs 1,000 points to get a 10% discount on a $100 card, and 500 points to get a 10% discount on a $50 card. Earning those points is easy as a Verizon customer – you’ll get 500 each month just for using paperless billing. Some of these schemes cost money, but the amount you pay will be less than the value you can save on the gift card, so it still makes sense to sign up. If you don’t yet have an AARP account, first you’ll need to register.

That’s a small price to pay for the ability to save up to 10% off your cruise. It hasn't been available in a while, but Newegg used to do discounts on carnival giftcards occasionally. You can use up to nine gift cards per transaction with Carnival Cruise. If, for instance, you purchase a physical Princess Cruises gift card valued at $100 USD or more, you will get free First-Class USPS shipping. You can purchase a Celebrity Cruises gift card from the cruise line website. Gift cards are available in $25 increments, all the way up to $500.

Gift cards purchased with Target's RedCard receive a 5% discount. You can also look for Black Friday sales on Disney gift cards at Sam's Club and other promotions offered through the cruise lines or retailers. Beyond the cruise fare, there are many ways that cruisers can spend money onboard. Shore excursions, drinks, photos, specialty dining, and spa treatments are some potential extra costs. Therefore, it's important that you understand the fine print of whatever gift card you are eyeing prior to purchasing.

As an interest group with tens of millions of members across the country, AARP is known for its influence. For members, it also offers a number of benefits and perks. I get most of mine through AARP, with their 10% off, but have purchased a few through Target, in a pinch. Allstate Rewards is very hit or miss for me, when it works it's great but most of the time I can't get the website to work. AARP you do have to be a member to purchase them but membership is pretty cheap (somewhere around $15-20 a year) and you can become a member at any age, you do not have to wait till your 50 to join.

So, for a $500 gift card, you can do this twice and get $30 off your gas. Gift cards are usually sold in either $50, $100 or $500 denominations, so you can pay $450 to get a $500 gift card. If you plan to cruise one of the lines offering the cards, we see no reason not to take advantage. For instance, Royal Caribbean only allows you to use the card for a new reservation. And you have to book the cruise, pay a deposit, and then email in a copy of the gift certificate to apply to your remaining balance. We just bought 4 $500 cards for $1800 on AARP, that's the usual 10% discount they offer.

If you’re looking for a deal, it doesn’t get much better than this. With no strings attached, hoops to jump through, or other headaches, you can essentially get 10% off the cost of your cruise by buying these gift certificates and then using them to pay for the trip. So a $2,000 cruise becomes $1,800 just with buying the cards through AARP. So the $100 gift cards sell for $90 via AARP and the $500 cards sell for $450. Even better, before you think you have to be an older American to join up and get these savings on cruise gift cards, membership is open to anyone.
